Vigilant member of the public

Alert message sent 07/01/2019 12:32:00

Information sent on behalf of Surrey Police

Good morning

Yesterday evening Police were called by a vigilant member of the public in Hinchley Wood who had just witnessed a young male in possession of a large kitchen knife. The knife was described as being at least 20cm in length. The male was said to be showing it off to a group of friends.
A Rota NPT officers immediately attended and after a short foot chase officers identified the male described and on searching him - a large kitchen knife with an approximate 11” blade was found tucked into his waistband.

After the arrest of the 14 year old youth, officers remained to provide reassurance and the informant was updated and thanked.

The case has been referred to the Central Youth Intervention Team, where an appropriate decision on the outcome will be made

This shows just how important it is to us - to have you, Elmbridge residents, keeping a watchful eye and ready to call in any suspicious activity.

best regards
